My Story

Miss Kitty is a petite cat with a beautiful thick coat and a soothing purr. She was abandoned by her family when they moved. The neighborhood then cared for her for years. One neighbor even had her spayed, which definitely increased her odds of survival. Recently, one of the neighbors decided she deserved a chance at a forever home (and to be brought inside out of the elements before winter set in) and contacted FOPAS. We happily agreed to take in this beautiful cat. Understandably, Miss Kitty is very timid. She has been through many changes in her life and has never had a secure environment or humans she could call her own. But like the iconic Gunsmoke character she was named after, Miss Kitty is a survivor and did what she needed to do to survive. Despite all that and even after the appalling treatment she received at the hands of her first owners, she still has a heart of gold and will be as loyal to you as Miss Kitty was to Matt Dillon. If Miss Kitty could articulate it, we imagine she would share her namesake’s mantra: “You can't account for everything that happens to people who touch you. You know, I learned a long time ago, there are some things in this life that you just accept the way they are.” Please accept Miss Kitty for who she is and consider making her a part of your family. The shelter life was way too stressful for Miss Kitty so she went to live in a foster home for a couple of months. During her time in foster care, she became more and more confident each week. She likes to sleep on the bed under the blanket during the day where she loves to cuddle and even the occasional tummy rub. She is a low maintenance kitty with excellent litter box hygiene. Although still easily scared, she likes being petted, brushed, and chasing strings. Miss Kitty prefers not to be picked up and can be sensitive to loud noises so she would need to find a forever home with a patient human that lives in a quiet home with no children or other pets. Based on her time in foster care, we expect that Miss Kitty can be a great companion and will gradually continue to overcome her fears.
