My Story

Miracle is a female DSH cat mixed with brownish grey tabby. Miracle is name such because she has quite a horror story to tell. Miracle was callously dumped at our shelter but in a way you could not even imagine. The shelter received a call from a man that said he had a cat he needed to get rid of and he "despised cats!". The shelter told him to bring the cat to the shelter and we would gladly take her. Well, during a time when the shelter was busy and there were several people milling around, he chose to drive to the side entrance rather than bring her through the front as it turns out. The terrible part is that he didn't put her in the 4 empty cages that were sitting there....he put her in the shelter's freezer. Yes, you read right....a functioning freezer. As it was around the time the shelter closes, the employees left for the day without knowing that she was in the freezer. They noticed a red truck turn around and leave but nothing else was noticed. The next morning, Miracle was found in the freezer, cold but appearing to be ok. She was also pregnant. The next night, being Sunday, she was in labor where she delivered 5 babies.....2 that were dead, 3 alive. Monday morning it was evident Miracle was in distress. She was rushed to the vet where it was discovered that she still had not delivered 2 kittens so an emergency C-section was performed to save her life. Unfortunately, these 2 kittens were also dead upon delivery. All of the kittens were premature and we were fortunate to have another nursing mom at the shelter who took in the 3 living kittens but in a period of 2 wks, they too passed away. She was nicknamed "Frosty" at the vet's office but we felt that "Miracle" was the best name for her. She is our little Miracle and deserves a new life with someone that will cherish and love her. If that could be you, please call the shelter between 9-3 MOn-Thurs, 9-4 Fri at (606) 673-4509 or after hours/weekends, call Kim Perry at (606) 638-0512 or email [email protected]. Call for a quicker response.
