My Story

To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Midnight's journey has been a challenging one; she was attacked by a dog, which left her with nerve damage and incontinence. Her tail had to be amputated, and she was sent to Black Cat Rescue to heal. Despite the hardships she has faced, Midnight has shown remarkable resilience and strength. With the care and support of her foster human, she has made incredible progress. Her incontinence is now manageable with the help of a diaper, and she has adapted to her new circumstances with grace and determination. Midnight is now ready for her next chapter, a loving home where she can receive the care and attention she deserves. She is a sweet and affectionate cat, with a playful spirit that shines bright. She even still likes dogs!! All she needs is a chance to show you the love and joy she has to offer. Please consider opening your heart and home to Midnight. She has so much love to give and is ready to become a cherished member of your family. Together, we can give Midnight the happy ending she deserves. Here's what her foster human has to say about Midnight: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Midnight is very outgoing and active. She thinks the world is her oyster. She doesn't hide, even when first entering a space (including the NBC studios). Does the cat enjoy being pet? If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Midnight loves being petted. She often stretches up and puts her legs on my knees when I'm sitting so I can rub her head and ears. Also, if I rub her backside briskly, just above her tail, she will pee or poop if she has something ready to go. Recently, she's been volunteering to stand in the catbox for this, which is really helpful. . Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Don't pet her backside above the tail if you don't want her to pee or poop. Also, she is such an active cat that she sometimes won't stand still long enough to be petted, but we still get lots of pets in. Does the cat come on your lap? Does the cat like to be held? She wants to come up on my lap and she doesn't mind being held, but we are limited by the fact that she may pee or poop on me. Sometimes I put a cloth on my lap so we can cuddle. She also likes to climb up on my shoulders when I'm sitting in the kitchen. Does the cat sleep in your bed? I'll bet she would if I could let her. Does the cat seek your attention? Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Midnight absolutely loves attention, either from people or other pets and is always up for playing. She loves her pole toy and anything that she can bat around on the floor. She also likes batting at Arvid the dog (who doesn't seem to mind). How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Midnight isn't a big talker and doesn't cry to get through doors, etc. but she has a very cute little meow when she wants to tell me something. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain Yes, Midnight likes both her cardboard scratcher and to get a long scratch in anytime that she can get to the flat-weave rugs (when she escapes into the livingroom). . Does the cat always use the litter box? If no, please explain. Midnight likes the catbox and will go in and 'pretend' to poop, then scratch around in the litter. She does occasionally get a poop in the box but as often as not her poops will end up elsewhere. She doesn't seem to be able to push them out voluntarily without help. That being said, as I mentioned before, she will poop and pee if I rub her tail end and she is starting to volunteer to do that. I'm guessing that she is more comfortable with the poops out and appreciates the help. This is a change from a few months ago when she often wouldn't stand still to have me rub her tail end and make her poop. I've been making sure she has plenty of time to run around and get exercise on the theory that that will help her to strengthen her back end and perhaps help with the poop coordination. (She does a lot of running and jumping around now that we've figured out how to poop-proof larger areas of the house. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Is the cat picky about food? I've been feeding Midnight Royal Canin dental food (Dr. Leavey recommended that for another cat to keep weight in line). I feed about 3/4 cups per day - sometimes I put out more and she seems to self-regulate her intake. What is the cat's favorite treat? Pretty much anything - I give her freeze-dried salmon or any dry cat treats that we have on hand. She also likes the pate treats. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Midnight likes to play and will swat at me and Arvid for fun. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Midnight rarely scratches but has clawed me when she is very anxious (at the cat event) or when I tried to get her into a diaper when she had already told me no. That said, she doesn't scratch me or complain even when I have to put her back into her part of the house after an escape to the livingroom. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, she hasn't nipped or bitten me. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Midnight is super friendly with anyone who comes to visit and was either friendly or tolerant with everybody on her outings, except when she'd really had enough at the Boston cat event. She loves playing with my dog and me and tried to befriend Hugo, my friend's cat who came to stay with us (in his own segregated part of the house) I think Midnight would love living in a home with other pets, especially if she doesn't recover the ability to reliably use the catbox and so can't sit on laps or sleep with people. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren't covered by the previous questions? As mentioned, Midnight is about the most outgoing, social cat I've ever met. Also, she is really soft and super plush which isn't really a trait, but makes her very pretty and really enjoyable to pet. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? If Midnight could use the catbox reliably, she would be just about perfect. Only people who don't want a cat who is super friendly and interactive should steer away. Just a guess, but she might be quite dominant in a multi-cat household - she is not at all shy around other cats. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Her challenge is just the obvious one. We have to cover everything with cloths and pads to manage her pee/poop. I still hope that she will recover her catbox skills, but she might not. Things have definitely gotten easier over time, but that is partly because I'm getting better at Midnight-proofing the areas she has access to. That said, she is offering a glimmer of hope so, fingers crossed!
