Hello furiends! Looking for your next best friend, wing-cat, all-around
purrfect pal to complete your family? You found him! Meet Maverick, the 1-year-and-9-month-old street survivor who came to Scruffy in desperate need of medical attention and dental work. Maverick is rested and recovered. He has made many new friends at the shelter and is now ready to meet you - his forever human!
A few facts about Maverick - he is a hugging, face-smashing, drooling purr machine who wants nothing more than to be in your space and receive love and pets. He craves attention and will bolt out of his cage when it's opened, so we ask his new family to please be mindful when opening your doors to the big outside. He enjoys being held and receiving head and chin scratches. He isn't shy about letting you know he wants your attention and can be vocal at times; expect Maverick to go paws to shoulders and give you the sweetest hugs, so we suggest a family with older children for Maverick. Toys, toys, and more toys - this boy LOVES to play and keep busy!
Because Maverick is a bit of a food connoisseur—he will eat ALOT—we recommend not free-feeding him. He has had some testing and biopsies done, and his results are consistent with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which can easily be managed by providing the proper nutrition. He will need to follow a hypoallergenic prescription food diet. We will happily supply Maverick's prescription food for the first six months to his new family. If you have another cat in your family, Maverick should eat separately from them so there won't be any issues over who gets the final morsel.
He is fine with other cats, but they must be confident and friendly - Maverick will take advantage of submissive cats. He plays hard - and by that, we mean he is the amateur cat wrestler's league president. We are unsure how Maverick will be in a home with dogs or other animals.
