My Story

Meet Maude! Maude, her mother Malia, and her 6 siblings (Maurice, Minkie, Mona, Maisy, Anton and Des) were abandoned at Priceless Pets' door on May 20, 2024. At that time PPR estimated that the kittens were two months old but Minkie's foster mom thinks that they may have been a little younger than that. Maude is beautiful. She, and her brother Minkie, both have coats that resemble an Abyssinian cat. Minkie's coat is brown flecked with black. Maude's is gray flecked with black. They both have stripes on their legs. If you are considering getting two cats together these two make a beautiful pair. The kittens' mother Malia is very tame and affectionate and loves people. However, because they were born on the streets with little or no human contact for the first few weeks of their lives, the kittens have varying degrees of shyness. Maude, in particular, is nervous about being chased and grabbed. She will run and hide if someone comes towards her abruptly, especially if she doesn't know that person. Sometimes Maude will give a warning hiss but she never strikes out or bites. All she's doing is telling you that she's a little scared. After time spent sitting with Maude on the floor with a bowl of wet food, in a room that has no hiding places, feeding, petting, picking up and playing with her, Maude is now not the least bit nervous about being petted, picked up and kissed, provided she is approached quietly in a non threatening manner. Any adopter would most likely need to follow a similar routine with Maude at first, I.e. keep her in a single room with no hiding places, only feed her when you bring her food (no free feeding) and sit with her, pet her and briefly pick her up while she's eating and afterwards play with her with toys such as wand toys. Maude went from being a nervous, anxious kitty to a relaxed happy girl who purrs when being stroked after a few days of spending meal times and play times with her foster mom and with just a little more such attention she should be the same kitten for her new family. Once Maude associates you with all that is good (food and fun) you should have a kitten who loves you and looks forward to being with you. Maude is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, flea free and microchipped which will be registered to her new family. Come meet Maude at the Costa Mesa location. Please note the all adoptions are completed on a first come first served basis. Please complete an application online at Pricelesspetrescue.org.
