Mary

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I have lived with cats. I am a sweet, shy, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home! I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. I am looking for a home with a patient person. What my friends at ACC say about me: Mary tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home. A volunteer writes: Mary really loves her feather wand. We may not know much about Mary's history prior to coming to us, but that feather wand is number one. Adjusting to the shelter can be a bit of a jump for some of our more gentle hearted friends and as we set about learning about Mary's loves and likes, we discovered that she is as playful as they come when her beloved feather wand is out. When I met Mary, I tried to offer treats, some pets, a little conversation, but when I saw the note explaining her love for her feather wand, I put away my bag of tricks and went straight for that. It ended up being the best idea as Mary allowed herself to relax into playtime for a little while. Mary was brought to us with a cat buddy and has been taking in all the big changes on her own time.
