My Story
If you watch the news in Dallas, Texas, you heard of a tragedy that happened in the Garland area about a week
ago. A man came home to his house in my neighborhood, and shot and killed his wife, and another person that was there. The police were called, a standoff ensued, and
unfortunately, the man killed himself. The swat team stormed the house and, according to the neighbor, there was a large amount of tear gas and explosive type devices
used. The police had to break out windows and doors.
This cat, which I have named Lucky, was an indoor only, declawed cat, that lived at this house.
She was searched for after this tragedy and could not be found. The neighbor was convinced she may have been badly injured or killed. We looked for her for a week, and had little
hope... Then, on Saturday, she literally walked into the neighbors garage, and she kept the cat until rescue
people could get there.
The cat has been taken to a vet and checked out. She is about 5 yrs old, has a spay scar, has been tested for feline leukemia and
aids (negative-negative), given all her shots and treated for fleas.
She is front paw declawed, and extremely loving and affectionate.
I have done many rescues in my life, but the one thing that makes this stand out to me is that I
know the owner of this cat, the murdered woman, who obviously loved and cared for this animal, would want us to help.
