When you text or email it is imperative that you state your name and what kitten you are inquiring about.
Lilibet is a very special kitty. She came into foster care after someone claimed to have taken her from a litter and then couldn't get her to eat. That's because she was too young. She didn't know how to eat. When she came into foster care, she vomited everything she ate, so a vet exam to ensure her digestive tract was fine, followed by an anti-emetic and gentler food she has done really well.
She now eats regular kitten food. She does best on Purina Simply Beyond dry food and Pro Plan turkey or chicken-based wet food. If her adopter wants to transition her to another food, it's highly recommended that transition be a slow one.
She has imprinted on her foster parents and shown no interest in playing with other cats, kittens, or the resident dogs. Most times, we say kittens do best in pairs, but in Lilibet's case, we think she'll thrive as an only cat. She's insistent on getting attention, and our reward for that attention is having her melt into a nonstop purring machine on one of our laps.
The adoption will be coordinated with their foster mom and the adopter:
Douglas County Animal Services
921 Dump Road
Gardnerville.
Shelter staff will administer the kitten's microchip and second FVRCP shot at the adoption.
The adopter will be responsible for scheduling a wellness exam and for scheduling her spay.
If the adopter chooses one of our contracted veterinary offices, the adoption paperwork will cover the cost of sterilization and rabies shot.
If another vet is used, the adopter may submit documentation of both sterilization and rabies shot to the shelter, and the shelter will refund the adoption fee.
