Meet Leonard! Leonard is approximately 4 - 5 years old, all black, short hair, and a ***love bug***. He will "talk" to you to say hello, and greet you. Leonard has had a rough life so far. It is believed that he once had a "family" but they moved and left him behind to fend for himself. Neighbors say he had been living outdoors for **4 ** years. Nobody called the shelter for help. Nobody took pity on him and let him inside. Nobody gave him a home.He wandered from home to home looking for shelter, looking for food. Last May Leonard's luck ran out. An animal viciously attacked him. He showed back up in the neighborhood.limping and severley dehydrated. Half of his tail gone and he had open abscesses, open bites, and bruises all over his body. He fought hard to live. FINALLY somebody stepped up and took this sweet boy to the animal shelter, where he was vetted and cared for. And surprise! This ragamuffin that the neighborhood once scorned was the sweetest, most lovable boy. In fact, he was so sweet that he was the shelter favorite. Last week our rescue received a plea for help. Leonard's shelter was at capacity and brimming over with cats. Cats were at risk of being euthanized. Leonard was one of them. Leonard is now in our care. What a precious boy he is. He is talkative and will meet you at the door of his 2 level crate, rubbing his head up against you.As soon as you come into the room, Leonard will tell you what has happened since you left. (He has great stories!) Leonard would make a great companion cat. He is very hopeful that his luck has changed and he will - once again - have a home, this time with people who won't fail him and will love him forever - not just until it's time to move. His perfect home would be a low-activity, quieter home, with or without kids over 7 years old. He would love lots of snuggle time and someone that he could have a good conversation with. He wants to feel loved and wanted again, and to be a member of the family. Leonard is/wil be dewormed, receive his FVRCP and rabies vaccine, be neutered, and be microchipped with a lifetime registration. You won't need to re-register every year - it's done for life!
