My Story

Meet Leno. This little guy was presumed to be thrown from a car because his lower lip was torn down to his chin, and he had a fractured jaw/chin. He managed to find his way to a kind Samaritan's house and with the help of another local rescue, we were able to get him seen by a local vet immediately and taken into foster care. While initially a bit head shy and terrified of riding in a car, this sweet fellow has made vast improvements. With the skilled work of the vet, Leno has a normal looking mouth with the ability to eat all kinds of food. In fact, food is an obsession for him. Since he has had a propensity for developing crystals, along with finding out that the "knees" in his hind legs do not have complete sockets, whether congenital or due to being thrown from a car, he was put on a special urinary diet. However, since his foster mom is not fond of the prescription diets, Leno has been on a raw diet for months and does exceptionally well on it. While it is very visible that his knees pop in and out of their joints as he is walking, the vet has stated that there is nothing that can be done. He is very mobile despite this fact, running and jumping, without any evidence of pain. In addition to a raw diet, the only thing Leno needs is to be given a joint supplement to help reduce the severity of any possible future arthritis in his knees. Leno doesn't know his own size, and can sometimes be a clutz, so he has caused some of the cats to be irritated with him. He often runs right into another cat in his zealous anticipation of food or to get attention. He is a fanatic about batting a cat toy across the floor like a soccer player or race through a cat tunnel, yet he is quick to snuggle up on a lap when evening falls. Leno's adoption fee is $75, which includes neutering, vaccinations, deworming/defleaing, testing for FEL/FIV, and microchipping.
