My Story

Picture this: binge watching your favorite streaming service, a pizza delivery, and Porter & Kolsch kicking back to keep you company. We can help you attain these goals! P&K are a couple of very relaxed and mostly sedentary kitties. That doesn’t mean they don’t like to play from time to time. Clearly their lifestyle has rewarded them with a couple of cat “dad bods” (although neither has ever been responsible for kittens, thankfully)! These are some BIG cats. Could they stand to lose a little weight? Yes. Should they go on a diet? Probably. However, we have been taking things slowly for the boys, as they’ve been through a lot of change in their lives. TL;DR So let’s talk about Porter & Kolsch canon. Yoga4Cats has been with these boys every step of the way of their rescue journey - spanning 5+ years now. These two boys (along with their littermates) were rescued in 2018 as feral kittens, living under a shed in Mt. Zion. Upon capture, we boarded them for a bit until foster space became available. They also spent some time at PetSmart. Finally, Porter & Kolsch were adopted together to a home that we thought would be a good fit. Turns out, it wasn’t. The home had large breed dogs and the boys were terrified of them. Yoga4Cats was finally contacted about a return to rescue and the boys were pretty traumatized. It took them some time to resettle into the comfortable surroundings of another foster home. They patiently waited for the right person to come along. And then one day, they did. This was a great home for the boys! Once again, they settled in and became part of the family. But something changed. There was a death in the family which changed their housing situation and Porter & Kolsch were going to be displaced AGAIN. Surrounding family & friends of the adopter were unable to help. Yoga4Cats put out a foster plea for the boys so that we could offer them return to rescue. We certainly did not want our boys to land at an animal control facility where space is a concern. Porter & Kolsch found their way back to us for a second time and have been doing quite well ever since. In focus: Kolsch The tabby & white one. The one with the spot on his nose. The shy guy. The even bigger boy. The one that is going to take longer to acclimate and adjust. The boys will not be separated. As much as they’ve been through, having each other has been their only constant. Please consider giving Porter and Kolsch a true forever home. They deserve that commitment and stability. They are great cats and need a patient, kind family to welcome them to their home. Both do well with other cats that are receptive to feline companionship. They need to be placed in a dog-free home. You can expect them to be very shy at first but they will come around and show you their cat loaf dispositions and entertaining personalities. Both kitties are current on vet care: neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated (FVRCP + rabies), treated for any parasites if indicated, and negative for FIV/FeLV. If you are interested in adopting Porter & Kolsch as a bonded pair, please complete our online adoption application at yoga4cats.com/adopt or you can access our online application here:  https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/YCIL/Cat You must be 21+ years old to apply.
