Hi there! I'm Kiera, a cute tortie kitty looking for my forever home and family. I might seem a bit shy when we first meet, but that's just shelter life. Once I get comfortable, I enjoy petting and will roll around for more attention. I can be timid at times and would love a low-key home where I can follow my human around when I want attention. We'll be good friends in no time! Disclaimer: this cat has been diagnosed with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a retrovirus that causes immune dysfunction in cats. Luckily, many cats with FIV lead full, normal lives just like a non-FIV positive cat. FIV is spread through saliva and bites and is often seen in outdoor male cats that fight. Because FIV is hard to spread, FIV positive cats can live with regular, FIV negative cats and there is little risk to spreading of disease. Over time, cats with FIV may develop a weakened immune system. This can lead to infections, dental disease, and rarely the development of tumors/cancer. There is no cure for FIV, but symptomatic care can be provided if complications arise. Many FIV positive cats live their whole lives without having major health issues related to the disease. This cat is currently healthy and has good prognosis.
