My Story

All About Juliet! Juliet is a very shy, but very sweet Maine Coon mix. She is standoffish at first and it will take her some time to get used to her new person, but once she does, you will be kindly rewarded with affection. If you like to type or do anything that requires sitting down for a while, she will favor you by jumping in your lap and demanding affection. She also likes to crawl into beds at night and wind herself around the tops of her humans' heads and sniff in their hair. Why she does this, we don't know, but we think it's cute. Sometimes she likes to knead on your tummy, if you're lying down, or on blankets. She is very shy around strangers. If someone strange comes into your house, she will hide and never venture out. She would be ok with one other cat (preferably a laid back and/or friendly type) but she doesn't like dogs. She's very good about taking baths, provided you have filled the tub with warm (not hot) water prior to bathing her and the faucet isn't running. She will sit quite still and let you get on with it (we don't recommend trying it, though, until she trusts you). She may complain, but she won't try to escape if you are very gentle, slow, and make no sudden movements. She does not have a normal meow. Her meow is very quiet, sort of like a whisper. It's difficult to explain but on a Maine Coon breed site it describes it as a 'distinctive, chirping trill'. It's a very cute, very babyish sound. She likes to explore 'cave' spaces: empty cardboard boxes, cabinets, etc. If she is very scared, she might try to hide in very small, confined spaces. She's very good at hiding; beware. All in all, she's a lovely, sweet cat. She is not overly affectionate, but when you do get affection from her, it's very sweet. If you want to make sure you can always locate her, we recommend using a collar with a bell on it. She's very quiet. Juliet is spayed, NOT declawed, up to date on shots, and looking for a quiet home with someone who has a regular schedule and not too many visitors.
