As if finding homes for the constant strays and surrenders wasn’t tough enough, we now have to find a home or rescue for Jewel, a young female mama cat that is positive for FeLv (feline leukemia) ??
Jewel was brought to us under sketchy circumstances and noticeably pregnant. She delivered 5 kittens in a foster home, spent months nursing them, and was recently separated and vetted. She tested positive for FeLv during her spay surgery, and returned to us isolated from her kittens and other cats. She is just about 2 years old and was obviously not dealt a fair hand in life so far.
Despite this, she is currently healthy and very social. There is no known treatment for this, and our goal is to find her a home or rescue willing to take her in. Because it’s easily transmittable, she remains isolated with no cat interaction. Our hearts break for her because she deserves so much more than this life!
