Hello... My name is Jackie O! I was named after former First Lady Jackie Onasis because I am beautiful and classy like her. I have a very pretty face. My luminous, bright round eyes just POP out against my dark fur. My black coat is thick and shiny—like a mini black panther! I have a petite body with little legs and a short tail.
I know there are many black cats for you to choose from on petfinder but how many of them have an irresistible crackly meow like me? “Meh-eh-eh...“ My foster family smiles and laughs each time I meow! Click the "View Video" link to hear it. You will often hear me meow to say hello to you when you enter the room, pet me or even when you call for me. Not always but if you talk to me I will sometimes meow back. I likely have some Siamese or Bombay in me due to my love of gab. Yet, when it is bedtime I zip my lip and have sweet dreams.
I am YOUNG... about 1-2 years old the vet says because my teeth are still nice and white. I am still frisky... I love to play with string toys and plastic balls. I especial love chasing after the red light from a laser pointer! It is loads of fun watching me go bonkers over it! I like to run around the house randomly when I get a burst of energy. I use the scratching post well and do not mind having my claws trimmed. I like to be combed but being bathed...not so much. ;)
I am content to just quietly cuddle up next to you on the couch while you watch tv or read. I am not much of a lap cat as I am a couch potato buddy. I like to also sit behind your head on the back of the couch and take a nap. You will often find me sunbathing near the window or quietly napping under the dining room table.
I am fostered with other cats. Introducing me slowly to other cats would work best if I go home with you. This is true for most cats. I do not know how I am around dogs as my foster home does not have any.
I have been spayed, tested negative for FeIV/FIV and received flea/deworming medicine. I am current on my age-appropriate vaccinations including rabies. To help cover my vet care, my adoption donation is $100.00.
If you think I would fit in well at your home and would like to meet me please contact [email protected] today! Thank you!
XOXO,
Jackie O
P.S.
Did you know that black cats have the lowest adoption rate and the highest euthanasia rate? Why? We're not quite sure. Maybe it's the superstition factor. Some people say they can't see or make a connection with a black cat in a poorly lit kennel. And for folks browsing the internet for pets, black cats don't always show up in photographs as well as their lighter colored brethren. For whatever reason, black cats are statistically less likely to be adopted than more brightly colored felines.
Black cats are also most often ignored by many rescue groups because they are so hard to place. These cats are often left waiting in pounds and shelters with hopes of finding a loving home, only to be destroyed once their time is up. Shelter to Home, Inc does not discriminate based on color. It is true that our black cats often take longer to find homes – and that they take up much needed foster space during this time. But our philosophy is that Black Cats need Love and a Safe Home Too.
