Irina started life in the home of a hoarder under horrible conditions with 58 other cats. I let her make the rules from the beginning and corrected her as I went along. Months ago, she would swat or try to nip me, which led to a firm NO as I left the room - the playtime she yearned for was over. It's been weeks since I've seen that behavior, but if I pet her too much at once, she will turn and give me a look telling me she's overstimulated and enough is enough. The love rolls are for you, but I would not put my hand in there to scratch her belly, as she's looking for something to kill - she's a cat! Give her a safe, small stuffed animal, something on the end of a wand toy while you hold it, or a large catnip mouse instead. For this reason, Irina would not be good with young children. If you want your next family member to adore you, talk to you, lay beside you, constantly purr when you’re near, do love rolls, be petite/beautiful/immaculate, have no litter box issues, love scratching posts/wand toys/catnip toys, window seats, YouTube TV videos to watch the birds… then Irina gets 5 stars for all the above and she is the cat for you!!! If you want a cat to lay on your lap all day or pick up to hug, she’s not there yet - and may never be. I love her resilience to adapt to people who treat her well and her need to be with. As with most cats, If someone would be willing to let her write the rules you can live with and correct the ones you can't, there's no end to what a beautiful, loving new family member you'll have!
