Iona

Iona is a sweet and spicy lady. While she may only have a few spots of red to signal her tortie/torbie patterning, she is all tortitude in the most charming of ways. Iona loves to snuggle and stay by your side as you lounge. She likes to sleep in your bed with you at night, purring in your ear. She likes being a part of the action in the household, present for meals and getting ready for school. She likes to be where the people are. She loves it when kids read to her, or play. She is tolerant of dogs, and had no fear of the German Shepherd in her previous home who always wanted to tease her - Iona remained unruffled. She got along great with the 3 other cats in her foster home, no fighting past the initial settling in. Just chill. She is a fantastic, social, affectionate girl who is gentle but firm with her personal boundaries. Iona has 2 behavioral quirks that make finding a perfect match difficult, however. 1) If she cannot access her food, she will pee. It is a direct complaint to management about the emptiness of her bowl. It’s not a surprise, she won’t leave it for you to find. She will make many loud complaints, until finally making eye contact WHILE peeing in your purse. Full food bowl = no peeing issues. This poses a problem for her weight management. We have no solutions. 2) Her drug habit. Iona likes to get high. Catnip is nice, but she has a preference for real, THC laden Cannabis. Her previous foster was medicinal user and Iona showed an aggressive interest in her foster mother’s therapy from the dispensary. She loves the smell, the taste, and the feeling. If Iona can smell it on you, she will Be On You. Any time previous nervousness, anxiety, tortitude, and even the pee-complaints disappear for weeks at a time once she is able and to ingest or inhale a little bit. Given that Iona is a strong supporter of the Country-wide legalization of recreational marijuana, and a supporter of researching the medical uses of cannabis in veterinary settings, I think have honored her by changing her official birthday from 4/13/20 to 4/20/20. We are hoping to match Iona to a family who shares her values. Iona is fixed and UTD on her vaccines. DOB 4/20/20* .
