Idie Bity (AKA Little Bity)
Breed
Tabby, Domestic Long Hair
Color
Tabby (Buff / Tan / Fawn), Tabby (Gray / Blue / Silver)
Idie Bity originally came in with the name Little Bity but staff members used the nickname Idie Bity and it stuck. Anyway, little Miss Bity was 11 years old when she came to us 12/1/21 along with 2 other cats, both males, who have since been adopted. Their owner lost her home and could not keep them.
Due to being a senior and liking her space without numerous cats close, staff let her become the shop cat of the shelter and roam loose in the halls, front reception area and laundry room. She greets visitors and gets in staff member's laps or on top of a desk if they sit to do paperwork or take a break. Idie will also follow her favorite staff members around through the halls and different rooms looking for attention while they are making their rounds doing chores. She is cat selective, ignoring some and hissing at others, but did live in a home previously with other cats. The older she's gotten, the mellower she has become, especially since she's been a shop cat now for 2 years, getting used to constant people and pets coming and going and a lot of noise. If there is something, someone or a pet she does not care for, she will get up and leave the room.
Idie can be a bit temperamental so we have labeled her as special needs. She does not like her back near tail petted and will bite or swat at you if you pet her there or if you move her while sleeping. She can be a grumpy old girl but for the most part loves attention, sleeps a lot and goes off to different rooms to be independent or be alone. But when she wants attention, she is very loving.
Idie Bity can be sweet and is lovely with long hair and big green eyes but it will be difficult to find her a forever home because she is older and temperamental. She is a character. Idie can live out her years as a shop cat here at the shelter because staff and volunteers love her, but if the right patient soul can give her a loving retirement home, we don't want to deprive her of that possible chance, so she is on Petfinder......just in case.
