My Story

The reason I have Herbie listed as special needs is that he prefers to urinate on puppy pee pads. I have one litterbox in my home that is lined with a pee pad because my own cat prefers them. Since coming here, Herbie has also started to use that box. Some people might find this a positive feature if you're the type to not want alot of kitty litter dust in the house. I'd love it if all my cats would do it! Herbie does occasionally use a box, too...but prefers to urinate on the pads or newspaper lined boxes. After almost a year of doing this, I don't know if he would go back to urinating in a clay litter box full time. Puppy pee pads can be expensive, but Herbie only needs one per day. Walgreen's currently sells packages of 50 for $10.

Herbie likes to play with my kitchen rug and bathroom rugs. They are the kind without rubber on the back so they slide easily. He's quite a silly boy.

Herbie is very affectionate and is always out and about. He's not the type of cat to hide or sleep in odd places. He often sleeps in bed with me, either curled up on my pillow or under the covers next to me with his face right next to mine.

Herbie is very much into other cats. He will need to go to another home where there is another playful cat for him to have fun with. His favorite thing is to just run through the house with someone chasing him or with him chasing them. He doesn't wrestle or play-fight. He has been with me a long time and has formed wonderful relationships with other fosters that I have had. Sadly, when those cats were adopted, the people didn't want to also take Herbie. He goes into a state of depression and does nothing but sleep for a few weeks. I do my best to pull another cat from the shelter that would make a suitable playmate for him and he eventually snaps out of it.

Herbie is estimated to be around 5 years old. He eats dry food but has gotten used to having canned food as a snack in the mornings and evenings. He is already neutered and front declawed, up to date on his vaccines and tested negative for FIV. If you're willing to buy him puppy pee pads and you have another playful cat, then he's ready to be your Herbie the Love-Bug!

Herbie's adoption donation is $100. Please email his foster mom at [email protected] for an adoption application.
