My Story

Meet sweet Henry, or “hehe” as his foster mom calls him. Henry came to Max’s Hope because he is special needs. He was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. This occurs when the mother cat has an exposure to a viral illness while pregnant that can cause her kittens to be born with an underdeveloped cerebellum in the brain. The cerebellum controls balance and coordination. Henry is a normal cat through and through- he’s just a little wobbly. He walks and meows, eats and drinks, and plays like a normal kitty. He is litter box trained. Henry will need a home with NO STAIRS inside, but otherwise needs no other accommodations. A forever home for Henry will need to understand that preventing potentially dangerous situations for him (such as a fall down the stairs due to his imbalance) will be very important for him. His CH is mild though, and he will live a full and normal life!! Henry can be shy at first, and isn’t really a fan of being picked up. This is understandable, and he prefers all four on the floor to keep his balance. He will play with all the toys and sit on your lap. His favorite time of the day is getting to eat canned food as a treat. Henry is around a year old and is FIV/FeLV negative, neutered, and fully vaccinated. Adoption fee: $30 Applications: www.maxshope.com Please include your veterinarian name, number and the name your current pets are listed under. Also please check your information carefully. All current pets must be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Dogs must be on heart worm preventative. Our adoptable cats must live inside and adopters must agree not to declaw. If these criteria are not met, we will not process your application. Adoption Process: This is not a first come, first serve organization. We will do our best to process applications within 48 business hours of receiving them. The application must be completed in full including first and last name, complete address including city and state, complete veterinarian information (this will be checked and all pets must be neutered or spayed, up to date on all vaccines, and dogs must be current on heartworm prevention) and the name of all current pets in the household. We are 100% volunteers and I will not subject anyone who is giving of themselves and their time to hostile conversations. Please be patient with us. We are not paid for our endless hours and are looking for the BEST home for the babies in our care. We will process your information and an email will be sent to the email you provide on the application.
