My Story

Helen came into the Wichita Animal Shelter as a stray that was trapped on a golf course. She was brought to the shelter and where she wasn't reclaimed. Helen sat angry at the world around her as her time ticked away on death row. The stress induced URI in Helen and her chances of getting out alive dwindled to a slim halt. Unfortunately, most rescues have no room or not enough qualified fosters to deal with an angry sick cat. Thankfully, we where able to make space on our team to get Helen to safety so she could get well and decompress. We know now a little more about Helen as she's sat in our care. She was previously altered so she was previously someone's cat. We don't know why Helen was out on that golf course but we know she definitely needed help. Helen is definitely an inside cat and probably has lived her whole life inside. We feel lots of here fear probably stemmed from being outside in the scary world. She grew defensive probably at that time and the traumatic experience of being trapped threw her in an overload of emotions. She was then taken to the shelter which drove her already high emotions into overdrive and shut down feeling the world was out to get her. Helen has taken some time in a foster home to get re acquainted with the world isn't all bad. She's been accepting that now she's once again safe from a scary world who threw her into a fear based panic. Helen would prefer to be an only cat but may be okay in a large home with a lot of space and appropriate orientation. This country club girl is hoping to once again win over the hearts of a forever family as the independent woman she is!
