My Story

Hedwig the Owl is a 7-8 year old beauty who is just now learning to love life. When she was a kitten, she was "gifted" to a woman who made it clear from the beginning that she didn't want her. What followed for Hedwig was a life of neglect and loneliness. When her owner went into hospice and she found her way to our rescue, she was a sad and somewhat timid cat who flinched when pet. She had a very difficult time eating, often choosing not to eat so that she wouldn't get sick. Her eyes were dull and half closed and she appeared to have some weakness in her hind legs. This darling girl definitely benefitted from some vet care and she slowly began to blossom in her foster home, learning that some human can be friends. It took a while for her to come around, but soon her eyes became wide and bright, she learned to love chin scratches and she began to follow her foster mom EVERYWHERE. Even though she's come out of her shell in so many ways, she hasn't come around to enjoying the company of other cats, so it's time for this lovebug to find her very own loving person to continue showing her just how wonderful life with the right person can be. It turns out that Hedwig's hind end weakness is due to some neglected arthritis and although she gets around just fine, petting her is most effective up near her head so that she doesn't tip over. She has a very thick coat and definitely benefits from daily brushing as she is prone to hairballs from overgrooming (an anxiety response). She has discovered the simple joy of sitting in a window to watch the world go by. She's nervous about jumping up on the furniture still and tends to like to sleep in a closet, but as soon as she hears her person moving around, she's immediately following, hoping for a scratch or a bit of conversation. She especially loves to keep you company in the bathroom, running ahead of you and taking up position on the sink where she gently nudges you with her head and turns on the purrs. Can you give this precious girl the life she has always deserved? If you're interested in this cat or kitten, please fill out an application rather than send an inquiry. Applicants are processed first come first served and some kittens go fast. You are not obligated to adopt by submitting an application and due to volume, we are not always able to respond to inquiries in a timely manner. All Diva Pets Rescue cats have been fostered in homes by our volunteers. An application is required prior to meeting our cats in order to help ensure a good fit between adopter and adoptee. You can complete the adoption application at www.divapetsrescue.org. One of our volunteers will get back to you within 48 hours. Please contact us for more information at [email protected]. All of our cats are spayed/neutered, dewormed, flea-treated, microchipped, and have had all age appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fees are $125 for cats over 1 year old or $200 for 2 adults. Kittens under 1 year old are $150 or 2 kittens for $225. The fee for 1 adult and 1 kitten adopted together is $200.
