My Story

My name is Fred. I was found by a CAAWS volunteer, ripped up, hungry and scared. I could not even walk on my back leg because it was fractured. They had to trick me into going into a trap because I was cowering in a drain pipe. Then they rushed me to the emergency vet where they wrapped me up like I was a mummy or something. They said my wounds were old so they were unable to stitch them up but that they should heal with time. So not only do I have to deal with being all cut up and having a splint for the next six weeks, I have now learned that I am FIV positive. I hear this is not a death sentence but that I have to go to a home without other cats because there is a slight risk I could infect them. FIV is a retro virus that attacks the immune system, and as a result, I will be unable to fight off various infections and cancers. The nice people at CAAWS have done a lot for a poor guy down on his luck. Now if only my luck will hold out and I can find a home that would be the happy ending I have been waiting for. Fred is a young very affectionate, sweet cat who can live a long life with FIV. If anyone is interested in Fred please contact us at [email protected]. Also his medical bills were rather expensive and he is being boarded at the vet until he recovers from the worst of his wounds or until we find him a foster home. If anyone would like to make a donation in his name please go to: CAAWS Donations By giving money we are able to help more animals like Fred.
