Just before he was about to be killed, one of the young ladies there felt bad for him. How could this gorgeous neutered cat be abandoned like that? She took him out of the cage, and brought him home with her. She knew she already had several cats of her own, and one more just wasn't going to work. She brought Felix to the pet store in hopes that they could help. The pet store offered to put him up for adoption, but only for a week. After that Felix would again be condemned to die.
My mother stopped by my house to visit one day and started talking about this cat she had seen at the pet store. You must understand that on all ordinary occations, my mother does not like cats. It takes something very special to peak her interest. Minutes after she left, I was at the pet store. I asked all sorts of questions. He was set to go back to the vet in the morning. I told them to hold him for me and that I would be back. About an hour later, I returned and brought him home.
Two weeks later, I brought him over to my mother's house on Christmas day. She was so happy to see him. It turns out that she had decided that she wanted him, but when she went back to the store just days later, he wasn't there. The girls at the pet store didn't tell her anything (they know our family well, and I asked them to keep it a secret). She had been heartbroken, but said, "I guess that means I wasn't meant to have him." I have to give credit to my little brother too for keeping the secret even though he had been to my house and seen Felix before. my mother said that Felix was the best Christmas gift she could have asked for. **Please do not give pets as gifts... this one was pre-arranged and agreed upon by the rest of the family before-hand**
Felix is lovingly referred to as "The Garage Kitty" as he has no interest in being in the house with the dogs. He has a heated pet bed in a cozy pet taxi, a heated water dish, his own litterbox, and a home to call his own.
Felix's collar was purchased at Pet North in Brainerd.
