My Story
Dunstan is a seven to eight month old (age current as of 9-09) persian-Maine Coon mix kitten. He is a black & white bi-color (it's hard to see in the pictures, but Dunstan is solid black with just the very TIP of his tail white); he has the long hair that is typical of persians, but has the easy maintenance doll face that is typical to the Maine Coon breed. Dunstan is neutered, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped and has been wormed, vaccinated and flea treated. This boy is a BIG kitten, so we believe that he will be a BIG cat (just like a Maine Coon!). Dunstan was rescued from a Texas kill shelter. He is extremely sweet, affectionate, outgoing, and loving. And he gets along great with other animals!!
Dunstan does have the food sensitivity problem that some persians (and mixes!) have. This means that he MUST be feed a good, premium cat food (like Innova Evo, Wellness CORE, or comparable). These foods cost the same amount as other more commonly fed foods - like Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Max Cat; they actually cost less then some others - like Royal Canin!
Adoption donation - $50 (SPECIAL REDUCTION!).
Sorry, we do not ship our cats or provide any transportation. All potential adopters should reside in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Louisiana. We will not adopt outside of those states.
Who We Are: We are a not-for-profit organization who is committed to helping Persians, Himalayans, exotic shorthairs, and ragdolls. All of our expenses are funded by personal and private donations. All of our cats are kept in foster homes - please note, we do not have a shelter facility, so appointments must be made prior to visiting foster homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, wormed, de-fleaed, and vaccinated prior to adoption.
Adoption Process: We require all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to visit with the cat(s). We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. If you email us, we will provide you with an application by email.
Adoption Fees: Our adoption donation for persian, himalayan, exotic shorthair, ragdoll and Maine Coon breeds are as follows: for an adult cat is $150, a kitten is $175 to $275 - depending on age, gender, and breed of kitten. Other breeds may have differing adoption donation amounts. We occasionally have reduced fees - these will be noted on the individual cat's listing. If someone adopts more then one cat from us, we will reduce the subsequent adoption fee(s) by $25 to $50 (depending on age of cats/kittens adopted). The adoption fees help defray SOME of the costs associated with rescuing/fostering these kitties. Except for the persian, himalayan, and exotic shorthair cats listed on this site, South Texas Persian Rescue cannot guarantee the parentage or breed of cats on this site (unless otherwise noted that the cat is "purebreed"). Please note: if someone places a deposit on a cat/kitten to "hold" them until they are ready to go home, and the person changes their mind, the deposit is non-refundable - it is only refundable if the cat/kitten become unadoptable for some reason.
Donations are always welcome!
