My Story

Dovey is a sweet 7 year old cat who was adopted as a kitten and recently returned to SAAP after being diagnosed with diabetes. Sadly, her caregiver's career in the military was not conducive to giving insulin injections on a regular schedule. She has had quite an adjustment coming from a quiet house to her crazy foster home filled with kids, cats and dogs, but is coming out of her shell a bit more every day. Dovey has learned to hide well when the chaos gets too much for her, but foster mom got smart and invested in an AirTag collar so she can still get her injections on a consistent schedule Foster mom is happy to pass this on to her forever family. Dovey is very tolerant of her shots and is not on a special food. Just two little shots a day twelve hours a part that you can slowly move to a schedule that is most convenient to your lifestyle. Her insulin is a smidge pricey at $67 a bottle, but it is good for almost a month and a half and is less than the cost of a specialized bag of food. If you are looking for a calm, sweet cat to share your life with, Dovey is the girl for you. She would happily snuggle up on your lap all day. She is co-existing with all kinds of dogs and cats, but can be quite selective (much prefers lower energy fur friends). She has been fabulous with all the humans, young and old, that she has met.
