My Story

Calling all Brooklyn 99 fans! Why, we can't have Jake Purralta without his nemesis-turned-bro-mantic partner Doug Judy! When this streetwise, rough-and-tumble fella found his way to us in mid-March of 2024, I KNEW instantly what to name him! This 3 year old was charming and charismatic with just a bit of street thug and troublemaker nestled within. And that face, I mean who can resist a chubby-cheeked cat, am I right? So here is a quick run-down on Doug Judy's personality since he has been with us at Crash's. Note that it has taken be 4 months to write about him because he had to settle in and make himself at home (no more life on the lam for this guy!), PLUS he has been carrying around an intestinal parasite known as Giardia since his arrival. Once he is all free and clear from the infection, our beautiful boy will be ready to con his way into your heart: "Doug Judy is still a little hesitant to let his guard down when approached, his ears go down, and he sometimes will hiss. Recently I (shelter manager Robin) have been working with him on how to accept pets without automatically thinking he is going to be swatted and encouraging him to not be so scared and tense when I pick him up. He has a little bit of a short fuse at times and will lash out when he feels threatened. Because he is unpredictable, he will absolutely need to go to a less active home with no small kids or little dogs. He would be fine with one other cat, one that likes to play, as he has a very active, playful side to him. He gets the zoomies in the afternoon, and LOVES to chase Ravenna around the shelter - talk about highspeed black blurs zipping past ya at full force! He may not be ready to show himself off at a Meet and Greet, but with the right person who can earn his trust, I think (KNOW) he will surprise us. And, Dr. Jen can attest to the fact that when he is visiting her at FWC, he is quite the gentleman, very relaxed, and enjoys all of the one-on-one."
