My Story

They called her “Miss Blues,” but her name was Dorothy Ellis, and she was known for her blues and jazz singing in Oklahoma in the 1950s all the way into the next century. I could be singing the blues, too, because I had some injuries when I first got here. I’m a black adult female called Dorothy. I was found in SE Rochester, and I had wounds on my head and neck, which were treated with medication and have healed. Do I like jazz, as in revving up and playing? Not so much right now, but maybe someday I will. I am a very sweet, mellow girl who loves being petted. I’ll rub up against people’s hands to ask for more. Let’s find music we can enjoy together, shall we? Or maybe just the words of another famous “Dorothy” from The Wizard of Oz: “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home…” I can’t wait to go home to be your Dorothy!
