My Story

Meet Donnie Donnie is a senior at about 10 years old and diabetic. He requires special food to be fed twice a day and insulin to be given twice a day, Purina DM and ProZinc. Donnie had full workup done when diagnosed with diabetes and everything else is good. Donnie uses the litterboxes really well, is dewormed, neutered, and Felv/FIV negative. Donnie lives with other cats and dogs. He does really well with the dogs, great with the baby kittens, and bullies the other adult cat. He chases him down the hall while yelling at him. Donnie likes to hang out on the arm of the couch, under the couch, or in his cat tower. Recently he has also found the center island to be nice. He is an older guy so he does not play too much. He does like to dig in the houseplants and chewy on them so there was a constant refilling battle going on with his foster mom until she recently moved them to a room he can't get into. Donnie will need a home that is able to commit to giving insulin twice a day and having a good pet sitter that can care for him when/if they are gone. Donnie will need yearly vet care with spot checks of his blood glucose. The blood glucose checks are something his owners can learn to do at home or take him into the clinic for. He just finished up a FreeStyle Libre monitoring system for 14 days. This is a great way for owners to get numbers to their vet without having to bring in their pet frequently. Donnie tolerated it very well. Overall Donnie is a goofy older cat that is set in some of his ways but still getting into things like a kitten on occasion. He is a great buddy to hang out with, will talk back to you, and demands treats as well. Donnie comes with insulin, needles, sharps container, and food. If interested in learning more about Donnie or meeting him please email his foster at [email protected] In your email please include information about yourself, home, current pets, past pets, vet clinic, and any diabetic experience you may have-although it is not required to.
