Because Donald is visually impaired, the shelter staff has opted to have him live in a foster home. This will allow them to convey to you more accurately Donald's abilities in a home environment, and also gives him the comforts of a home while he waits for his forever family. You may inquire about adopting Donald by speaking with Barb Hampton at 906-440-4104. Although being born very visually impaired, Donald doesn't let it affect him much. He looks into your eyes, out a window, and at objects. He runs, climbs, and plays with toys. He enjoys the company of other cats. He doesn't run into things that are moved into different locations. It is unknown how much he sees, but it is obvious that he sees images. Donald is a cat who knows his name and responds to it. Saying his name before touching him keeps him from being startled. He loves to nuzzle his way into the crook of your arm, have his face rubbed, and his head petted. He pushes hard into your hand to maximize the petting! Donald is such a joy in his abounding trust and love! He will make some very lucky person a wonderful companion. Donald will need to be an indoor cat only. It is unknown whether his vision impairment will deteriorate, but it is felt that it won't. Did you notice his big wonderfully perfect mitten paws in his pictures and the use of them in the video?
