This beautiful boy was surviving at the Dodge dealership at the auto mall and that’s how he got his name, Dodge! Dodge was surviving by hiding inside the building at night and going through trash, eating whatever he could find. He would hide and sleep in boxes of car parts. Since he is black, he hid well and would often startle employees. He was often seen running through traffic and was scared of people. Unfortunately he suffered an injury to his back right leg at some point and employees noticed him limping. One of our volunteers decided to trap him as it was clearly an unsafe situation for him as well as the employees and customers at the dealership. It wasn’t clear whether he was a feral cat or an abandoned friendly at first. He went in for his vetting at our favorite clinic, Community Spay and Neuter, and after a couple of days, started to open up and allow pets! After a few good ear scratches, Dodge absolutely melted and began to purr. We were so happy to discover that he is friendly! Thanks to Elk Grove Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram’s sponsorship, Dodge was seen at CSNC where he was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for fleas, worms, earmites, and ringworm. He was SEVERELY malnourished, weighing less than half what he should weigh. Since his growth was stunted, he will be a petite boy and currently only weighs 8 pounds. He has a broken/dislocated toe that has healed, it doesn't bother him anymore. Since being in foster care, he has gained several pounds and is now happy and healthy! He can be nervous with new people at first but very quickly opens up. He loves ear scratches and butt scratches, and will purr and drool when he’s happy. He's an expert muffin maker and gives gentle licks to show his affection. He loves to snuggle and wants to be in your lap 24/7. He loves every adult, child, cat, and dog he meets. He is very affectionate - he often rubs up against other cats and dogs and grooms them to show his love. He is very curious and loves to play, but also enjoys lounging on the couch. He craves companionship and does not like to be alone. He needs another affectionate and playful feline friend to spend time with, and would LOVE a doggie friend too! This sweet boy is full of joy and is ready to meet his forever family. The first step in our adoption process is the application which can be found on our website lapcats.org. All of our cats have tested negative for FELV and are fully vaccinated. They have not only been spayed or neutered but have also been treated for worms, fleas, and have been micro chipped. We will register their microchip for you, provide you with a free exam visit to a participating Sacramento veterinarian, and a goodie bag!
