My Story

Gender: Female Date of Birth: March 14, 2023 At the tail end of winter, Dawn presented herself alone to a farm looking for somewhere to have her kittens. The property owners were very sympathetic to her situation but there simply wasn't room at the inn, so she was turned over to the rescue, but not before giving birth in a live trap to 4 beautiful kittens. At her foster home Dawn was in full mama-bear mode for the first month, making it clear she’d just like to be left alone to do her job. While she was undoubtedly a supermom nursing relentlessly around-the-clock, the kittens were losing weight. Unknown at the time, Dawn had a severe ear infection and the whole family had a cold; tiny stuffy noses make nursing tough. Sadly, at that point her babies had to be temporarily removed from her care to save their lives. Dawn was panicked, confused and ultimately devastated crying out for her missing babies. She became very depressed in their absence, hiding and not taking interest in any of the usual things that a cat might. She remained understandably distrustful of humans. We started to wonder if Dawn was not destined to live indoors with people. After Dawn’s spay, antibiotics for everyone, and 18 days of bottle feeding, Dawn’s kittens were returned to her healthy and happy. She couldn’t believe her eyes when they bounded into the room, as she surely would have assumed they were dead. Instant bliss ensued as she reacquainted herself with her babies, who by this point had become people loving affectionate kittens, setting a perfect example for their uncertain mama. With her heart restored, Dawn gratefully decided spoiled cat life is for her after all ! Dawn made so much progress that she is now happily ready for het own forever family at the same time as her kittens. As you can see, Dawn is quite a looker with her beautiful markings and adorable face. Her tiny meows and chirps are just as cute! Dawn is still a bit timid but her soft purr confirms she truly does like being pet and when you stop be prepared to explain why! She enjoys having her neck and face scratched or even a belly rub here and there. Still being a young cat, Dawn is quite playful, especially enjoying wrestling, chasing tails and playing with toy mice. She likes to sleep on human beds and will try to lead you to her food dish so she has company while eating. Dawn enjoys treats and catnip. To continue to flourish, Dawn will benefit from a quieter household without things that might unintentionally scare her like big dogs or toddlers. Dawn does however show promise with other cats, being quite respectful of the resident grumpy cat in her foster home. Dawn will be a great choice for a person or family who would prefer to adopt a young and playful cat but is not up for the wild kitten stage which many adopters find more than they bargained for. She also isn’t the type of cat that will be trying to sit on your lap at the dinner table or will leave you feeling guilty every time you go out. Dawn just wants to be a quiet, loyal and loving companion to someone who will cherish and spoil her like she deserves for the rest of her long life.
