“CROW”
(a.k.a. “Neko”)
No offense to the person that named this little fellow, but it just doesn’t seem to fit. Instead, I’m going to call him NEKO, which is Japanese for cat. You see, Neko is a Japanese Bobtail and a rare one at that – the black color of his coat is not common, but very much desired. He was one of 70+ bobtail cats recently rescued from a hoarding situation in Raleigh.
In addition to being a handsome fellow with his sleek black coat and golden eyes, Neko is an excellent example of just how wonderful solid black cats can be. He is very friendly and affectionate, loving attention and being petted. He might even turn out to be a cuddly lap cat once in a loving home. Neko is definitely quite the charmer! J
This young fellow is also an active and playful cat, full of curiosity about his surroundings. As for interacting with other cats, he seems to do quite well with the friendly cats fostering at the adoption center.
Bobtail cats can sometimes have a shortened body length, which also shortens their digestive tract. This can occasionally lead to problems with loose stools. Neko happens to be one of these cats. Fortunately, a friend knowledgeable about bobtails told me that this problem is easily prevented by feeding a high fiber diet. She recommended the IAMS hairball formula, which has around 7% fiber, and Neko seems to be doing well on this food.
So, if a handsome, affectionate and playful fellow of exotic ancestry strikes your fancy, then Neko is definitely the one for you! J
