Chiquita is a sweet little lady ready to find her forever home!
Chiquita is your typical teenage kitten, full of energy who loves to play the day away and then take naps in her favorite comfy spots. It takes time for Chiquita to learn to trust new people and places. Once she gets comfortable and finds her favorite people, she will show off her and affectionate side and nuzzle up to you when she's ready for cuddles. She loves to window watch and do laps around the home when she has the zoomies. She loves both human and cat beds, and will happily sleep with her humans once she has adjusted to her new space.
Like most cats her age, she can be a little nippy when she gets overexcited while playing or getting affection, but those behaviors can be easily diverted with the use of her favorite toys! If she rolls on to her back, do not fall for her tricks! She's also not a big fan of being held, but that is something that can be worked on over time. Because of this we feel Chiquita would thrive in a home with cat-savy humans who can read her signals when she is getting overstimulated, and should not live with very young children.
When she is feeling intimidated, she will run away and come back when she is ready to interact again. Chiquita has had limited (through baby gates & doors) interaction with another cat in her foster home and she was a bit wary. She might be able to adjust to another cat with a slow introduction or would do well as an only cat. However, since she is FeLV+ so she will need to go to a home with other FeLV+ cats. She also lived with a medium size dog in foster care and had little interest in him.
**Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a virus that is specific to cats that attacks and weakens a cat's immune system. Cats with FeLV can live normal, happy, healthy lives-with a shorter life expectancy than cats without FeLV. In the past, cats with FeLV in shelters were euthanized as soon as they were diagnosed. PAWS takes a different stance: we enable FeLV+ cats to live out their lives in loving homes. For more information feel free to check out the FeLV FAQs we have available on our website!**
