My Story
Female, DMH, approx 6 years old
Chicky is a majestic, fluffy cat with the manners of a true lady. Her foster parents' apartment is her kingdom, and she loves to survey each room and investigate any new item they bring in with a careful sniff. Through the glass sliding door on their balcony, she observes the neighborhood birds and chatters at them when they get a little too close to her domain. She is also a skilled hunter of the tassel at the end of her fishing pole toy, and her lightning fast reflexes mean that it's never long before she successfully pounces on her target.
When she's not chasing her "prey," Chicky is fond of a cozy lap snuggle. She's very particular about the seating arrangement, and her humans often have to move their legs and arms into several different configurations before Chicky finds a perfectly comfortable spot to lounge in. Once she's settled in, Chicky purrs nonstop and rests her paws gently on their laps so that she can have a nice snooze.
Chicky is a queenlike beauty -- once she gets to know you, she will be such a loving, snuggly companion. After all, a warm lap makes the perfect throne! Apply today!

If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html
City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.
Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
