My Story

Cheeky is a gorgeous cat but she is not for the faint of heart. She says WHO and she says WHEN. She is not the needy, cuddly cat that most are looking for, but she makes a hell of a roommate that comes with some pretty good entertainment. Despite her boundaries on personal space, she does love to be where the party is - whether it's with her favorite person, or an entire group of people she may not even know very well - she wants to be in the room (as long as nobody touches her!) She is extremely vocal when she wants something (they neighbors may have concerns) and she is not above a fun-hearted jump-scare on occasion just to get you in the mood for playtime. Cheeky LOVES to play. She is an expert hunter and loves to play with anything that moves. There are approximately 4 minutes of the day she will love to be pet gently as she snoozes by the nearest window. Any other time you can expect to be met with screams and swats. Emphasis on screams. It's important to know she is a very nice cat and will not hurt you, but you need to respect her boundaries. We suspect this behavior is fear based and is currently escalated because she does not like living with other cats. She will likely become more loving to her people if she can feel safe enough in the home, but it is difficult to make any promises. With all this in mind, Cheeky would thrive in a home being the only pet. A house with young children and/or "chaos" would not be an ideal environment for her, as they may not interpret her signals that she's had enough. Rookie was recently returned to A Kitten Place through no fault of her own. She has been through a lot of changes and doesn't know why she has to get used to new environments so it is [understandably] taking some time. Her forever family will need to be patient with her at first, but we are sure she will thrive if you are willing to give her a chance. It will take at least a couple weeks to really start to feel comfortable.
