Hi, I’m Checkers. I’m a lucky kitten because although my teenage mom was homeless, she got snagged by a nice person who was really surprised when my mom went into labor on the way to the snip clinic. That’s how skinny she was – no one even knew she was pregnant. But we got a foster the same day, and from then on, it was smooth sailing. My mom got 4+ meals a day, so me & my sibs got all the milk we needed and grew up healthy and strong. Whoo hoo – lucky us!! Me & my sibs were all named after childhood board games. I have “red” (orange) & black spots, so Checkers kinda worked. I’m a pretty chill kitten. In my foster home, there is a small dog & we play together, although sometimes the dog gets a bit boisterous, so I have a “cats only” space too. I’m not sure how I’d do with a big dog, but if it was gentle and didn’t invade my personal cat-ness, I’d be cool. I love my foster mom, but there is a big guy here too, and he’s fun to play & snuggle with. We like to watch TV together. There is also an adult cat here (not my mom) who lets me play with her tail & who gives me baths sometimes. (Ugh, I get enough of those from my mom.) Personality? I got plenty. I have two favorite toys: the flying bird (I can leap really high) and an empty box. I love that box! Oh, and an empty toilet paper roll. And crinkle balls. And . . . But after I have had a good play session, I like to snuggle & snooze. My sib Twister is my best friend, and I’d love to be adopted with her so we could be together always. But if you have another cat or kitten, that would be OK too. Or you could adopt me with my mom Kindred. We’re both calicoes but different, so we make great pictures together.
