Checkers is a precious boy who enjoys soaking up the sunlight that filters into his suite. He can act nervous around people and may warn you to give him a bit of space through a hiss or a gentle swat, but he is slowly warming up.
Checkers prefers to get comfortable with his visitors' presence before engaging in physical interaction. A great way to help ease him is to offer slow blinks in his direction and allow him to observe you without sudden movements. Go slowly, and he might even lean in to a gentle pet or chin scratch!
This precious boy has been diagnosed with feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV). Since Checkers is FeLV+, he does require a home where he can live as a solo cat or with other FeLV+ felines.
