My Story

Oh Boy?? Oh Boy?? Oh Boy?? C-R-A-Z-Y UPDATE?? Oh Boy?? Well, THAT is actually the update! He's a BOY?? CHARLOTTE is actually CHARLIE???? For six months, we were told by the director of American Cairo Animal Rescue Foundation - ACARF - that kitty was a girl, but a few days after kitty's arrival in NYC from Egypt, when foster moms, Lu & Kirstin, took kitty in to City Veterinary Care for sniffles to get a diagnostic workup and have pre-spay bloods drawn, Dr. Caitlin Hummel announced, "Well, Charlotte won't be needing a spay - HE's already neutered!!" Foster moms were surprised but upon hearing the news, PFC's director, Mia, nearly fainted! Six months ago, Mia was asked long-distance to NAME the kitty who was rescued and in treatment in Cairo with burns so severe that no one there was sure kitty would make it. Kitty's full story can be found on Place For Cats' Facebook page where a number of posts and updates have been published. Mia chose the name Charlotte in memory of a similarly injured kitty, Scarlett, who became famous in 1996 when, in the presence of fire-fighters, she repeatedly entered a burning building to save each of her kittens, getting badly burned in the process. (Scarlett's full story can be found at the Wikipedia site.) Over the months of healing, Charlotte showed what a trooper she was - and the name fit. Only now, that trooper has had an official corrected sex identification, and a name change. So instead of "Lovely Charlotte," we are presenting "HANDSOME CHARLIE" for adoption. Same sweet nature, same friendly and affectionate attributes, same back story. CHARLIE will have dentistry and then will be ready for adoption. Please reach out to us here or email [email protected] for more information about adopting CHARLIE! While we are eager to engage all applicants, we do require a completed adoption application prior to scheduling a meet-and-greet in the foster home. Place For Cats' application can be found here: https://placeforcats.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/PFC-Adoption-Application.pdf Our kitties are spayed/neutered, FeLV/FIV tested, current in vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption. There is a $175 adoption fee and a home visit is required.
