My Story

Cecil is an older kitty and he may seem a little rough around the edges at first. But get to know him and he will truly melt your heart! Volunteers who have had this opportunity say he is a very loving, sensitive, and truly loyal guy.

Cecil would prefer a home with an older single person or couple, although he will also get along well with younger adults. If you give him a chance, he would love to hang out quietly with you (he is a GREAT listener), help you watch TV, or watch you work in the garden. From time to time, he will get in a playful mood and chase toys or a string.

Remember, a healthy indoor cat can live more than 20 years! So Cecil probably has many more healthy and active years to share with you. Once he gets into your heart, you're his. So don't just walk by - give him a chance, I promise you won't regret it!

Cecil is eligible as part of our Mature Companions Program.

Our Mature Companions program is designed to strengthen and promote the human-animal bond for senior humans and senior felines.

Cats 8 years and older can have a fairly difficult time of getting adopted when competing with younger cats and kittens. Additionally, senior cats often experience depression when they enter the shelter. Being adopted by a senior human (60 years and older) who understands their calm nature and need for companionship is a perfect match for these senior cats.

Program Benefits

  • Reduced Adoption Fee of $40
  • Free Office Visits at the CAT Hospital
  • Free Annual Comprehensive Health Exam
  • 10% off Preventive Care

  • Lifetime return guarantee to the shelter if the health of the senior should require to give up the cat
  • Follow-up visits at the senior’s residence by the adoption counselor or other CAT volunteer
  • Access to Adoption Counselors for any questions or concerns
