My Story

Meet Bubba. In May we received a plea to humanely trap and treat a community cat who was extremely ill and suffering from an infected leg wound. Upon arrival our volunteer was able to walk this outgoing but badly injured cat into a humane trap and transport him for medical treatment. His leg had a terrible skin infection from several puncture wounds. He was extremely congested and lethargic. His body showed signs of years of battle wounds and his ears tattered. Our medical professionals informed us he would need 2 weeks of oral medications and his leg would have to be closely monitored. Once he was in a kennel this big, sweet boy showed signs of sincere gratefulness to no longer be suffering outdoors. He used every opportunity to lean into his fosters hands for affection and even with an injured leg, made biscuits. Once he was no longer under sedatives, he was allowed to have his own bedroom in hopes he would show signs of being able to live indoors permanently. Immediately Bubba was quick to lounge on a cat tree, use his litter box exclusively, scratch the scratching post, & play with toys. At 19 1/2 pounds this giant panther now clumsily zooms through the his foster's home with short bursts of energy, throwing toys around, chasing wand toys, and playing hide and seek. 90 percent of the time he just wants to lounge close by the humans. Bubba is quite vocal but is barely audible with a low, raspy meow letting you know he's missed you and would like all the pets or its time for snackies. As you probably guessed, he loves food. He loves treats & catnip & any fishy wet food. It is extremely difficult to imagine that this incredibly sweet & affectionate cat spent over 5 years surviving outdoors. He has made zero attempts to leave the fosters house when a door opens and made it very clear, very quickly, he's a house panther. Years of fighting to survive has resulted in the inevitable for so many of these cats suffering outdoors, Bubba has FIV. Some quick internet research will tell you that FIV is not a death sentence, it just means that if Bubba gets sick it is harder for his immune system to fight it. Bubba has also made it clear that he doesn't trust other animals of any sort, which makes perfect sense given his circumstances. He wants to be your one and only with all the undivided attention. Does Bubba sound like the love of your life? You can meet him by applying to adopt & setting up a meet and greet. Fair warning, you will fall in love with him. Everyone who's met him has. Apply to adopt Bubba today and give him the lifestyle he deserves after all this years.
