He is looking for a medical foster home where he can spend the rest of his days giving and receiving lots of love! FIV in cats is similar to HIV (the human immunodeficiency virus) and causes a feline disease that is similar to AIDS in humans. Although FIV is similar to AIDS in humans it is a highly species-specific virus that infects only felines. While there is currently no definitive cure for FIV in felines, with proper care there is no reason a cat infected with FIV cannot live a very normal, healthy life for many years -- if managed appropriately. Feline leukemia is a disease that only affects cats -- it cannot be transmitted to people, dogs, or other animals. FeLV is passed from one cat to another through saliva, blood, and to some extent, urine and feces. There is presently no cure for FeLV infection. Secondary infections can be treated as they appear.
