My Story
Meet Boots!
Boots is a distinguished elderly gentleman with lots of life left to live. Boots is a beautiful grey tuxedo with a lovely white bib, paws, and little goatee. After a tough go of it in recent years, Boots would love a soft chair or bed to curl up on and feel safe and comfortable.
Boots was originally adopted from a vet office in 2011, as a small kitten. Life was fine for some years, until 2018, when his owners got a dog who liked to chase Boots. Boots was very frightened of the new dog and as such, was moved by his family to live in their workshop. He has lived in this workshop (and outside) for 6 years without anyone really looking out for him, searching among the machines and sawdust for a soft place to take a nap. Faced with recent health issues, Boots’ owners decided they could not care for him anymore and Boots deserved better than what they had provided him until then.
Now, beautiful Boots is looking for a soft place to land and live out his glory years. Although Boots has had a tough time in recent years, you would never know it by how friendly and affectionate he is. To friends and strangers alike, he will walk right up to you and rub your ankles and ask for pets. He loves being around people, and will follow you around like a little shadow, sit next to you on the sofa, and come join you for snuggles in bed. Sometimes, he even likes to put his head on a pillow and pretend he’s a little human!
Boots absolutely loves being pet, and could spend hours doing nothing else. He purrs nonstop the second you start petting him, and also makes lots of air biscuits when he’s happy. If he is getting impatient for more snuggles, he will bump your hand with his nose to let you know. He loves to lay his head on your palm and get little neck scratches. He also likes to roll around on a rug or mat, get tummy rubs, and you can even pet his adorable white paws! In addition, Boots loves looking out the window to survey his kingdom. Having not had a real bed in a number of years, he treasures any opportunity to sit on something soft and comfy.
Boots is approximately 13 years old. While many people overlook senior cats, adopting a senior cat - particularly one who has had a tough life like Boots - is extremely rewarding. And senior cats like Boots are so mellow and grateful for a soft, warm bed and family who will give him the love he has always deserved.
Boots is neutered, felv/fiv free, scheduled for updated vaccines in the coming days, and has no known health issues. Given his prior experience with dogs, he would prefer to be the only family pet. We do not know how he might like young children, but we think older, gentle, relatively calm children would likely be okay.
IMPORTANT: Saving Belladonna is primarily located in Connecticut. However, we have volunteers in many areas, which is how Boots came to us! Boots is currently located in Lake County, but we can deliver him as far away as San Francisco and Mendocino.
