Bliss must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, or RESCUE PARTNER by SUNDAY, August 4th by 10:00 am. Should Bliss's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Bliss was found by our staff abandoned outside our building in late June, and she is having a difficult time adjusting to shelter life. She would not tolerate any handling, and after being diagnosed with a URI, had to receive her antibiotics in her food. While Bliss has beaten her URI, she is still extremely overstimulated by passersby, and will frequently reach her paw out to swipe through the bars, and will lunge and hiss at staff attempting to clean her cage. When given a toy (a roll with treats in it) she tore into it with excitement, and allowed a little bit of petting before backing away. It's pretty clear that we haven't gotten to know the real Bliss, and we would really like Bliss to leave with someone that can not only provide a calm environment for decompression, but enrichment and ample playtime. NEW! Per staff on 8/3: Bliss seems very sweet. She let me and a potential adopter pet her and give her attention yesterday. She did "swat" but it was in a playful manner. She never hissed or seemed frightened. Seems like a nice girl just needs a loving patient home.
