My Story

**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens** Birdie is a three month old female tortoiseshell kitten. She is more shy compared to others from her group and will need kindness and patience to help her develop into a lovely house cat. She enjoys playing with her kitten friends and especially loves wand toys and feathers. Birdie does not yet like to be handled but she does love squeezable cat treat tubes and will lick the treat from your finger. Birdie is getting used to life inside a home and will get startled at sudden movements and tends to hide from loud noises. She would be best suited to a quieter home and would require time to come out of her shell. Please be prepared to give Birdie lots of patience and love for her to come out of her shell! Birdie joined AVA having been rescued from an urban property with ten other kittens and several female adult cats. Birdie is bonded to her sister Fox therefore they need to be adopted together in order for them to continue to grow up into the best versions of themselves! Fox can also help Birdie to open up and feel more comfortable in their new home. Would you like to make Birdie and Fox a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: avacats.org/adopt/adoption-form. Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping. Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator. All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it’s twice the fun for you, and half the work!
