My Story

Do you consider yourself a cat whisperer? Do you have the patience to help a pair of sweet but shy and skittish kittens gain more confidence? If so, meet Bea Arthur and Herb Edelman, a brother/sister pair who have come a long way in foster but are still skittish and often hand-shy, especially with strangers. They are approximately 4 months old. Bea is a short-haired brown tabby and white cutie and her brother Herb is a handsome medium-haired brown tabby and white guy. Herb is the bolder of the two and often enjoys a long petting and purring session with his foster mom. Bea is more hand-shy but will clamber all over foster mom for treats and playtime with interactive toys. Both are very nervous about strangers and new situations so patience is key to helping them settle into a new home. Though shy, they have docile temperaments and choose flight over fight when scared and anxious. Interactive wand toys, a laser pointer, Churu treats, and freeze-dried chicken treats are key to winning them over and continuing their progress. They will need to start in a small room with no hiding spots until they learn to trust and bond with their adopter. They will be a project, but an enjoyable one, and will blossom with patience and TLC - could you be the one to provide that? What Bea Arthur and Herb Edelman are looking for in a home: - They want to stay together forever and must be adopted as a pair. - They would do best in a calm, quiet, adults-only household. - Loud noises and fast or sudden movements make them anxious. - They have lots of kitten energy and will benefit from plenty of active playtime (also a great way to bond). - They need to live indoors only. - They get anxious when they hear the resident dog bark, so they would likely do best in a home without a dog. - They have no experience with children and would likely do best in an adults-only home or perhaps in a household with a quiet, respectful teen. All Alley Cat Project cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Thank you for your interest in Bea Arthur and Herb Edelman! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt them by filling out this questionnaire: https://bit.ly/ACPAdoptionForm Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match. Please do not follow up on your application by phone or email as this will not expedite a response. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we appreciate your understanding.
