Adopt Bartholamew: The Brave and Loving Survivor Meet Bartholamew, a courageous and intelligent long-haired male who has seen the rougher side of life. Once a beloved companion, Bartholamew was sadly thrown out to fend for himself after his person passed away. On the streets, he battled for basic needs like food and water, and often fought with other males. His resilience and bravery shine through his tough exterior, but beneath it all, he has a heart as soft as a teddy bear. Bartholamew loves ear and neck scratches, and his contented purrs will let you know just how happy he is. Upon being rescued, his long hair had to be shaved due to matting and prickly burrs, but his majestic locks will grow back soon. He may swat at times to communicate his needs, but his affectionate nature is undeniable. Bart is healthy but FIV positive (feline immunodeficiency virus). FIV can only be transmitted to other cats through deep bite wounds. We encourage adopters to research and speak with their veterinarian about FIV before applying. An attentive adopter will ensure Bart receives the vet care he needs to live a long, healthy life. He recently had a dental cleaning and some teeth removed, which hasn’t stopped him from enjoying his dry kibble, wet food, and Churu treats. Bartholamew’s smart, quick-witted nature makes him a delightful companion. He needs a home with no young children but might do well with respectful older children or teens. Bart gets along with female cats more submissive males quite well. With more dominant males he will tend to be defensive at first and needs a slow introduction. He loves kittens and is very patient with them. His history with dogs is unknown. Estimated at about 8 years old, Bart’s bravery, strength, and loving nature make him the perfect cat for the right home.
