My Story

Meet Ash! Ash is a beautiful gray tabby available for adoption. Ash is an extremely sweet and gentle kitty. She can be a bit timid around new people, but warms up quickly and enjoys being pet. She will roll onto her side and turn her head from side to side in order to make sure both sides of her chin get scratched. She's very curious and often observing everyone and everything around her with interest. She also has an adorable meow that she lets out when she wants attention (or food, let's be honest) which we love. Ash was a bit shy when she first arrived at the shelter, but is making good progress. She would do best with a gentle, patient adopter who will help her trust fully. Potential adopters should anticipate dedicating additional time to helping a shy cat adjust. Lucky for you both, this includes lots of pets, rewards, treats, and playtime. Once safe and secure in a loving home environment, Ash's adorable personality will shine. Ash does have a condition known as FIV. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a virus that can weaken a cat’s immune system. The disease is not contagious to humans or dogs, and it does not require Ash to take any medication to treat it. She does not require any “special” care and would only need a nutritious diet and regular wellness visits like any other cat. Your veterinarian may recommend that Ash be in a home with other FIV positive cats or be an only cat. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Therefore, FIV positive cats and FIV negative cats can live together IF the cats are friendly and introduced properly. Staff are happy to discuss FIV further with any potential adopters. Ash is 1-2 years old, is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She would do best in a home without young children. Please contact staff at (401) 294-2754 or email [email protected] for more information on our adoption process. Please do NOT apply through Petfinder.
