When Safe Haven volunteers responded to a hoarding situation in a filthy, old camper, they had no warning that most of the cats they rescued were pregnant. Cricket was one of them, and her four kittens were unexpectedly born at the shelter, but quickly taken in by one of our incredible foster moms. These darling kittens are now ready for their forever homes, in pairs. Rugby, one of the three females, is almost a mini-me of her mom, Cricket. She is the least outgoing of the four and also the most attached to her mom, and because of this, she is a little slower to adjust to the kitten room and still remains a little shy. She can be picked up, but is a little squirmy, and we are not sure if she’ll turn out to be a lap cat, although you will enjoy her purrs. You’ll get to know all four kitties’ quirks and charms if you come play with them in the ‘kitten room’.
Our policy at Safe Haven is that kittens must be adopted in pairs since they are usually bonded to their litter mates. An exception can be made if there is an uneven number of kittens in two separate families, they will be blended together, or if the adoptive home has a kitten who needs a companion. These kittens would love an active and attentive family who understand the joys and challenges that come with kittens. Respectful children who understand how to treat and handle fragile kittens are welcome.
If you are interested in meeting Rugby and her littermates, please go to our website and fill out an adoption application and we will be in touch to make an appointment for your visit. Filling out an application is not a commitment to adopt. You can call 207-646-1611 if you have any questions.
