My Story

Meet Peanut Butter and Alfie! Introducing two extraordinary souls, Peanut Butter and Alfie, who have been patiently awaiting their forever home for over a year at the shelter. While they did not arrive together, they formed a unbreakable bond as roommates and are now inseparable. These boys are a pair of resilient special-needs felines who've melted our hearts with their unique charm and adoring companionship. We're on a mission to find a loving home that will embrace Alfie and Peanut Butter just as they are! Alfie is an orange and white tabby who is about 5 years old. Found as a stray with a deformed leg that needed amputation on his arrival at the shelter, he is also blind in his right eye. Alfie needs a household who will be gentle and patient with him, as he needs time to develop trust with humans. He does allow some of our volunteers to pet him for short periods of time and we think that with time in a stable, calm home, he will continue to blossom and accept more pets. Peanut Butter is a playful, silly, 2 year old tabby who really knows how to melt the hearts of our volunteers! Peanut Butter is considered special needs due to his tendency to eat non-food items, a condition known as PICA. Many cats outgrow this condition by the age of 3, but his furever family will need to keep a close watch on soft household items, especially during his initial transition period as stress can exacerbate this behavior. Please talk with us about our ability to financially assist with PICA-related illnesses that may arise in the first 6 months of adoption into your family. Their journey may have been long, but their capacity to love knows no bounds! We would love to introduce you to these special boys and provide guidance on helping them transition smoothly to your home! Due to their special conditions, we do not recommend they live in a house with small children or dogs. Due to Peanut Butter's dominance, they need to be your only cats. Their combined adoption fee is $400. *To visit our cats, you must make an appointment on-line at www.caringforcatsmn.org/adopt.* Note: While we are happy to respond to your questions about any of our cats, you will still be required to make an on-line appointment at www.caringforcatsmn.org/adopt if you wish to meet our cats. Once you have a confirmed appointment, you can monitor the adoption appointment calendar and move your appointment to an earlier opening should one become available. We are not able to contact you to switch your appointment. Stay up-to-date with all events and happenings at Caring for Cats! Search ""Caring for Cats"" on Facebook. *Cats are removed from Petfinder when adopted. If you see a cat on Petfinder, it is available for adoption.*
